Your Pet’s Ultrasound Appointment

We will start by shaving a small area of your pet’s fur to allow the transducer to make proper contact with the skin. A special gel is applied to help transmit the sound waves, and the transducer is moved over the area being examined. Most pets tolerate the procedure very well. Although rarely needed, if a pet is particularly anxious and unable to remain still, mild sedation may be recommended to ensure they stay calm and still for clear imaging.
Once the images are captured, our veterinarians will review the results with you, discuss any findings, and recommend the next steps for your pet’s care. Pet ultrasound results are available immediately. In the rare case that we believe the results should be reviewed by a specialist for additional analysis, that will be discussed with you.
