Before We Can Begin: Pet Surgery Consultations
Prior to surgery, if your pet has not already had an appointment with us regarding their procedure, we’ll schedule a consultation with one of our veterinarians. During this pre-surgical visit, your pet will receive a comprehensive physical exam and pre-operative blood work to make sure they are a good candidate for anesthesia and the planned surgery. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, discuss any concerns, and review pre-operative instructions, including fasting. Our goal is to make sure that both you and the veterinarian feel that surgery is the best path forward.

What Should You Expect on Your Pet’s Surgery Day?
On the day of surgery, you’ll drop off your pet with our team in the morning, and we’ll prepare them for their procedure. During surgery, your pet will be closely monitored by our trained staff, who will track their vital signs and respond to any needs that arise. After surgery, one of our veterinary team members will give you a call to let you know how everything went and to arrange a time for you to pick up your pet.
When it’s time for your pet to go home, you’ll receive detailed instructions on their recovery and any necessary pain management. Our team will explain how to monitor the incision site and what to expect in the days following the procedure. For accelerated healing, you may want to consider laser therapy for your pet. In some cases, we may ask you to come back for a follow-up appointment, or you might simply need to send us a photo of the incision site to check whether your pet is healing properly.
We believe that every pet surgery should be performed with compassion and a skilled hand.
If your pet requires surgery, you can trust that our team will provide the compassionate, expert care they need. Contact Redlands Animal Hospital to schedule a surgical consultation, and your pet will be treated with their well-being in mind.
